Tell us a bit about what you do and your brand:

Right here we go then! 🙂

Where did the idea for your brand come from?

I have recently graduated from DeMontfort University studying Contour Fashion Design.  The course is unique, specialising in lingerie, swimwear, sportswear and corsetry.

What type of lingerie/swimwear?

For my graduate collection I wanted to push the boundaries and use a material that had never been used before.  I decided upon wood, and began by creating a wooden corset.  This led to the development of the supportwear that echoes the restriction of the corset but with a new, young, funky edge.  Due to the material that I used, the collection can also be used for swimwear.

Who is your target audience?

Id say that my current collection is aimed at the early 20’s to mid 30’s fashionable, passionate, independent woman willing to try new fashions but still wanting to feel great and sexy underneath.

Do you have your lingerie/swimwear in any stores yet?

No, the collection is not currently in stores but watch this space!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I am in full creative flow at the minute and in the early stages of my new collection that im very excited about.  Depending on the success of this will determine where ill be in 5 years time

Anything big planned for your collection? Anything else being added?

Well that would be telling 😉 but there will definitely be something a bit different from the ‘norm’!

How do you rate yourself as a lingerie/swimwear/fashion designer?

I wouldn’t like to rate myself at the minute, id say im a fashion designer that loves the female form so concentrates on making that look the best it can.  Being technically trained in garments that fit the body is definitely an advantage.

In your eyes what makes a good fashion designer?

Originality – wanting to always push the boundaries and create something new, fresh but still beautiful.  There are so many reproductions, just changing the odd thing, but it takes a good designer to create something unique and have therie own look.

Do you think the Fashion industry is difficult to break into?

Yeah it is, the main issue is money.  There are so many talented new designers that unless they get the lucky break wont make it unfortunately.

What do you think it takes to become successful in the design industry?

Having something unique that no one has seen, a lot of hard work and determination.

What to you is the most important aspect of creating a garment, the planning, design or implementation and why?

They are all just as important as one another to make the perfect garment, but if i had to say one id go for design, without that there would not be a garment.

What drives you/give you the ‘go’ to keep at it and do everything?

It’s my passion.  I have always dreamt of people wearing and feeling great in something I have designed and created.

Does fame attract you?

Not really.  I’d love my name/brand to be known as creating amazing fashion that everyone wants to wear, but im not really interested in being famous.

Where does your inspiration come from for your designs?

All sorts of things; daily life, museums, architecture, films, holidays… the list is endless

Where can we buy your clothes?

No where yet, but there are things in the pipeline so hopefully in the new year!

Three words to describe yourself?

Random, Original & Persistence

Hobbies and other interests?

My main things are holidays and traveling, not only for inspiration but for chilling!

Favourite Fashion/Lingerie/Swimwear Designer?

I love Hussein Chalayan – doesn’t follow the trends but creates his own.
Lingerie I’m loving Bordelles’ new collection at the moment, we do have a great deal of amazing brands in England at the minute

Tools of the trade?

Networking – It is key!

Any Tips or advice to share with aspiring designers?

Just do what you feel you want to design even if people dont get it.  If you believe it will be amazing then sick to it and it will be!
